Within the context of the INTAS Project, which aims to improve the provision of literature for scientists in the newly independent states of the former USSR, the TIB provides support to the following countries: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and the Ukraine.

Within the context of the project to "set up a joint information service of the TIB Hannover and FIZ Karlsruhe partnership", the TIB collaborates with the International Centre of Scientific and Technical Information in Moscow, and the Centres of Scientific and Technical Information based in Perm, Jaroslavl, Krasnodar, Tomsk, Irkutsk, St Petersburg and Chelyabinsk, as well as the Russian National Public Library of Science and Technology in Moscow.
