Standards

DIN standards are a crucial aspect of the world of engineering. As an official DIN repository, the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) stocks a full collection of DIN standards, which anyone can browse on-site. However, copies of these standards may only be made by members of Leibniz Universität Hannover. There are a number of other public standards repositories in Germany that allow access to and perusal of DIN standards: List of DIN standards repositories.

DIN standards can be purchased from the publishing house Beuth Verlag.

Copies of guidelines issued by the Association of German Engineers (so-called VDI guidelines) can be supplied on special VDI photocopy paper.
This incurs an additional cost of EUR 0.65 per page (cf. VDI Code of Practice 1).

In addition, the TIB stocks collections of standards issued by German (e.g. AD, BAZ, DVGW, FGSV, ZVDH), international (ISO, IEC) and foreign (ASTM, JIS, SIA) institutions. As a general rule, the individual documents of each set of standards are not referenced in GetInfo (the document delivery service). You should therefore select the "Order without search" option in GetInfo and enter whatever details you have in the order form.
